Villa VitalityUp to 10,000 Birmingham junior school children visit the club's Villa Vitality programme, which is run in conjunction with local Primary Care Trusts during school term time. The aim of the project is to encourage 7-9 year olds to learn about adopting a healthy lifestyle, promoting the importance of diet, exercise, cooking and healthy eating with the primary focus being to reduce obesity levels in children. This policy of providing healthy alternatives has continued with our offering for our corporate clients with the main emphasis placed on ensuring we offer a selection of menus and alternatives so that the client can make an informed choice and select the healthier option if required.All menus and dishes are designed to ensure that Government guidelines are encouraged with ensuring wherever possible: Plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and salads are offered to encourage the guidelines for . 5 a day fruit and vegetables are met. Minimal saturated fat is used in our cooking processes being replaced with lower fat alternatives such as olive and sunflower oil. We only use lower fat mayonnaise and we make our own very low fat natural yogurt which is used extensively throughout our recipes. Minimal salt is used throughout all processes. Over the past 2 years we have reduced the salt content in of our recipes to ensure that our food offerings fall well below the Food Standards Agency's guidelines for daily salt allowances for adults. No added butter is used to finish vegetables although it is available for clients to add if so desired. There are no hydrogenated or trans fats present in any of our food.
