Weighing just 680kgs and powered by the technologically advanced Lotus Twincam powerplant giving 126bhp, it was a very quick 60's sports car from the off. Combined with disc brakes all round and independent suspension, it handled well too, giving Colin Chapman his first real volume sales success with over 17,000 units produced by the end of production in 1975.This fastidiously and sympathetically restored S2 Fixedhead Coupé is in original righthand drive configuration and looks fantastic in Old English White with fresh black interior. The entire car has been restored, with no expense spared, from the ground up by Belgian marque specialists. The bare-shell respray has been executed expertly, as has the cabin restoration, including a professional re-trim and the replacement of the wood in the instrument panel, an area which tires rapidly from sun bleaching and lack of treatment.Today, the car is presented in better than new condition and is reported to run and drive seriously well thanks to the potent 1558cc DOHC engine with Twin Weber 40 DCOE carburettors mated to the 4-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels.
